我們小學三年級都在做什麼？之壞習慣不要學

不知道是不是從小看豬頭爸爸蹲在廁所裡看《依週刊》的緣故，豬頭的阿呆兒子從小也在廁所嗯嗯時看故事書。這陣子他老兄改變嗜好，喜歡看字典。

字典要怎麼看？我也不清楚，是隨意翻閱呢？還是從喜歡的圖片看起。總之，常常上完廁所之後，一個人整個還坐在廁所地板上繼續看字典。（這種畫面實在很不衛生。）

這類字典很有趣。最上面那張圖左邊是5-8歲；右邊是9-12歲。9-12歲的字典圖片明顯少多了，但是一旦有圖就是這種連豬頭也不知道的細節單字。他老兄的單字已經愈來愈多，而且學習的速度愈來愈快了。當他升上三年級之後，真的有些單字左邊字典已經找不到了。常常會覺得，這孩子的腦袋真的怪怪的。

底下是他這學期的研究報告書寫。一開始我還以為是阿呆兒子從書上抄下來的句子，後來才驚訝原來都是他自己寫的。（豬頭一直查字典。。。很像當初托福考試的閱讀測驗。）

The Red-Tailed Hawk

The Red-Tailed Hawk is a bird that lives in a lot of places that we called a generalist in North America. It lives in wide range of habitats and altitudes including deserts, grasslands, mountains, and foothills of deciduous woodlands, tropical rainforests, agricultural fields, and urban areas.

The Red-tailed hawk has physical traits to help it survive. It has a reddish brown tail and the chicks only have brown tails when they already know how to fly. The body is full of brown feathers. The size is 18 to 26 inches; wingspan, 3.8 to 4.3. The weight is 24.3 to 51.5 ounces. It walks on two legs or fly over the clouds. The Red-Tailed hawks nest on high trees like conifers and red wood trees. It lays 3 eggs on conifers, red wood trees, large boulders, giant cactus, city trees, windmill, rocky cliff, and city dumps.

Since the Red-Tailed hawk is a generalist, it will eat big and small mammals, reptiles, and birds. The Red-Tailed hawk eats bald eagles chicks when they are flying, snakes, rattlesnakes, mice, pigeons, white-tailed jackrabbits, and squirrels. It will go on high places so it can find its food. It will also fly into the clouds and if it prey move, it will swoop down grabs its neck then dinner is served.

There are a few ways that can threaten the life of a Red-tailed hawk such as pollution, particularly from pesticides, and habitat destruction. Lumber Jacks can cut Red-tailed hawk’s habitats. Hunters can shoot Red-tailed hawks with snipers. Young hawks can die by learning how to fly or got eaten by big snakes. Red-tailed hawks can try to survive by flying above giant clouds because hunters might hunt them down and red-tailed hawks use their talons to protect their young from dangerous predator.

There are many interesting facts about Red-tailed hawks. Red-tailed hawk’s nicknames are called “chicken hawk”. Hunters can train red- tailed hawks. Their red tailed feathers can be for ceremonies for Native Americans. You can find Red tailed hawks at cities parks. You can also find red-tailed hawk on electric rope lines. The best part to find red-tailed hawks is at fall you can see red-tailed hawks flying fast to the south to hibernate.
